D's hair, post-haircut
My rules were as follows:
- Don't say "oops", no matter what happens
- Cut a little at a time, and go back to trim more if it's not enough
- Don't get overzealous with the electric trimmers
It probably would have helped if I'd watched a how-to video or two beforehand, but then again my false sense of confidence proved to be enough! I'll do a little research before the next cut, though. For myself, I've decided to let my hair grow out again, with an occasional at home bang-trim every few weeks. We'll see what happens... (Cut to photos of both of us in 6 months with long, shaggy hair...)

Awesome! I am a former salon addict who's now obsessed with home haircuts (I've been doing mine for about a year). However, my bf won't let me get near his hair after my first attempt to shear him went awry. :)
I used to cut Andrew's hair about every two weeks, and one of my top rules was also a no "oops" rule. I love cutting on my own hair too. I think it's a weird disorder, but I love it. We should have a hair cutting party with the guys :)
Oh and Derek's haircut looks awesome! Looks like you did a great job.
Leigh, I can't believe you cut your own hair! Very brave of you, and I don't understand how you can cut the back... it always looks so cute!
My father in-law uses the suck and cut. Totally affordable, but unfortunately his hair is horrible.
Thanks grreat blog post
